American Federal Salutes Veterans and Service Members

Memorial Day is set aside to commemorate all who have died in military service for the United States.

American Federal Bank salutes veterans and service members, including American Federal employees Michael Kjelshus (top photo), Grand Forks Ag and Business Banker, with 15 years of combined active and reserve service in the U.S. Navy including during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and Mike Matz (bottom photo), Wahpeton Ag and Business Banker, a Vietnam Era veteran with the U.S. Army.

Show your appreciation to the men and women of the military:

Donate your time to a veterans group or volunteer at a VA hospital or medical center.

Talk to veterans or an active service member. Ask questions about their service, why they joined the military and listen to their stories.

Visit a memorial. Military members are honored through monuments that memorialize their service, courage and sacrifice.

Offer to help a military spouse or dependent. While expressing gratitude to service members, remember their families.

Attend a parade or veterans event. Cities often celebrate members of the armed forces during a parade and at special events.

Donate to a worthy cause. Many organizations assist military members, both active and veterans, in rebuilding their lives.

Fly the flag of the United States of America. If you fly America’s Stars and Stripes, follow the code.

American Federal Bank offers VA home loans and hires veterans.
