How do I learn about current position openings?

Go to Career Opportunities and review position postings.

What is the best way to apply for a position?

Go to Career Opportunities to browse our positions.  Then complete the Application Materials, save the application forms and submit the forms, along with an up-to-date Resume and Letter of Application, to American Federal Human Resources by email to [email protected], by fax to 701-461-5971, or by postal services mail to Attn: Matt Heinzen, Human Resources, American Federal, PO Box 2946, Fargo, ND 58108-2946.

What should the Letter of Application include?

The Letter of Application should include the position you are applying for, the American Federal Banking Locations you are interested in, compensation required for the position you are applying for, your current or most recent compensation, and the names and daytime phone numbers with area codes of three business references, including your current supervisor or other more recent supervisor.

What do I do after I submit my Application and Resume?

After receiving your Application Materials and Resume, we will review your qualifications to see if they match the position and banking location for which you are applying.  If they do, a Human Resources representative will contact you to discuss next steps.  If we do not have a position matching your qualifications, we will retain your application and resume according to state guidelines.   We encourage you to re-apply if you have interest in another position in another banking location or in other opportunities.

What are the steps in the hiring process?

If we determine you meet the qualifications of a position, a Human Resources representative will contact you to schedule a time to discuss your background, experience, interest and the position.  If it seems the position may be a good fit for you, Human Resources will schedule you for interviews with other American Federal employees related to the position.  Our goal is to make the interview process convenient and as informative for you as possible.  Reference checks, background checks and assessments are also part of the hiring process.
