Congratulations to our associate Kasia Visser.
Kasia, an associate in Ada, Minnesota Sales Office, completed the final step of the U.S. citizenship process when she attended the U.S. Naturalization Ceremony and took the Oath of Allegiance at the St. Paul RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minnesota in October.
Kasia’s family was on hand to see her receive her Certificate of Naturalization from United States Bankruptcy Judge Robert J. Kressel for the District of Minnesota, who led the ceremony.
In September, Kasia passed her interview and written test to become a citizen of the United States. She applied for citizenship in June, completed the required biometrics in July, and traveled to Duluth, Minnesota in September to take a citizenship test and to interview and demonstrate proficiency in English language writing, reading and speaking.
“It truly was an once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Kasia said. “The best part was that my boys and husband were able to go with me to the ceremony.”
“What amazed me the most was the number of people attending the Naturalization Ceremony. There were 431 people from 63 countries who took the Oath of Allegiance,” Kasia said.
Kasia moved from her birth home in Poland to the United States in 2004 to participate in a work and travel program in Chicago, Illinois. In 2013, she became a lawful permanent resident. Kasia joined American Federal Bank in July of 2013.
Kasia says she wants to sponsor her mother as a permanent resident when she visits from Poland.
